A six-storey masterpiece designed in the “Teapot Residence” style, National Taichung Theater spans almost 58,000 square metres with its variety of cultural venues. Its sprawling exterior complex features an ornate fountain, plaza and outdoor theatre.
The Grand Theater occupies the second floor and puts on major theatrical productions, including plays, ballets, comedy, symphony recitals and pop concerts. The more informal Black Box is an intimate space seating up to 200 people, ideal for free-form theatre, creative stagings and interactive audience participation. The theatre complex also includes a visual-art exhibition space at the fifth-floor Tutu Gallery.
Climb to the sixth-floor Sky Garden for sweeping city views while strolling pathways curving through lush gardens with flowering trees, tropical foliage and various plant species. Small shops sell intriguing art-centric items, such as painted saxophones and handcrafted music boxes, while on-site eateries offer innovative Taiwanese and international cuisine.
