Sydney’s historic Capitol Theatre first opened its doors in 1916 and has since been entertaining the masses with global productions such as “West Side Story”, “The Lion King”, “Mary Poppins” and “Mamma Mia!”. The city’s oldest and grandest theatre also hosts world-class ballet, live musicians and comedic performers, including Diana Ross, Chris Isaak, Seth MacFarlane and the Paris Opera Ballet.
The protected building has an iconic facade, but also houses an atmospheric auditorium filled with treasured statues and plush red seating. It retains its timeless elegance, thanks to a multimillion-dollar restoration that has brought in some of the world’s best productions. Complete your night at the theatre with pre-show cocktails and antipasto at one of the theatre’s five contemporary bars.
Nestled in the heart of Sydney, Capitol Theatre is surrounded by numerous attractions, such as Darling Harbour, Australia’s oldest museum and WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo. Grab a meal in one of the nearby restaurants before settling in for a show you won’t soon forget.

Capitol Theatre is surrounded by secure parking lots if you prefer to drive. However, public transport also offers numerous options with Central Station only a five-minute walk away and a Light Rail stop right outside. You can also catch the bus to Pitt Street, Hay Street or Eddy Avenue.
