At 12 metres tall, Tamworth's Golden Guitar is a testament to its musical legacy. It houses the Tamworth Visitor Information Centre, as well as a cafe and gift store. Travelling with the kids? The Gallery of Stars Wax Museum offers a fun opportunity to pose with Australia's favourite country music legends.
For a glimpse of Tamworth's guitar strumming legacy, visit the Country Music Hall of Fame. It's packed full of local memorabilia, including original guitars and stage costumes owned by local legends like Smoky Dawson, Slim Dusty and Keith Urban.
At the Tamworth Marsupial Park you can get up close and personal with native animals, including cockatoos, wallabies and emus. It also features a playground, picnic shelters, barbecue areas and family-friendly bushwalking trails.
At sunset, there's no better place to be than the Oxley Scenic Lookout. It's perched at the top of jacaranda-lined White Street and offers sweeping views over Tamworth and the surrounding countryside.
Getting around Tamworth
Tamworth’s town centre is easy to navigate on foot, but renting a car gives you the freedom to explore the NSW New England region at your own pace. Tamworth is also serviced by its own regional airport, located around 10 kilometres from the town centre.
