Located south-east of Jeddah’s city centre, Madain Al Fahed is a largely residential suburb dominated by low-rise apartments. Its main shopping street is a hive of activity thanks to its global eateries and retail stores, while all the excitement of Saudi Arabian soccer can be experienced at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium.
Things to do in Mada'en Al-Fahd
Carving through the heart of Madain Al Fahed is the main thoroughfare of Al Iskan, which is lined with eateries, supermarkets and retail stores. You can grab burgers at I’m Hungry, relax at the Repose Cafe or feast on traditional Middle Eastern fare at Alak Shawarma. Clothing, shoe and accessories stores also dot the route while the attractive Ebad Al Rahman Mosque is tucked just behind.
On the south-east corner of Madain Al Fahed is Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium, which hosts home games of Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli Saudi FC. Coincide your visit with a game to experience the electric energy of the stadium, which has the capacity to accommodate around 27,000 spectators. Constructed in 1970, the complex also includes an indoor arena and an aquatics centre.
Travelling with kids? They’ll love spending an afternoon at Park Reem, a low-key amusement park where you’ll find affordable rides and a swimming pool. Parents can relax in the on-site cafe where coffee, tea and hookah are served or spread out with a picnic on the grassy lawns. In the south of Madain Al Fahed is a recreational soccer field and the children’s playground of Jamea Alfarouq.
