Located beside the runways of King Abdulaziz International Airport, An Nuzhah is a largely residential suburb in the north of Jeddah. It’s home to a huge shopping mall that offers plenty of entertainment facilities and is just a short drive from the family-friendly attractions of the Jeddah Waterfront.
Things to do in Al Nuzhah
In the north-west corner of An Nuzhah is the Mall of Arabia, where you’ll find international brand retailers and local designs under the same roof. This huge shopping mall boasts more than 400 stores, as well as a multi-screen cinema complex and one of the largest indoor play centres in Jeddah. When it’s time to eat, you can dine on fast food or Middle Eastern favourites at the food court.
For a day at the coast, head to the Atallah Happy Land Park, a family-friendly amusement park that forms part of the Jeddah Waterfront complex. It’s packed with games and rides that include a Ferris wheel and features an ice skating rink and a musical fountain. Nearby is a breezy promenade with a model ship sculpture.
From An Nuzhah, you can easily watch the planes taking off and landing at King Abdulaziz International Airport, which is a major aviation hub in Saudi Arabia. It has a dedicated terminal for pilgrims coming to visit Mecca on the Hajj, with the Bangladeshi-American architect Fazlur Rahman Khan behind its award-winning design. The terminal can accommodate up to 80,000 travellers at once and comes complete with a souk-like market and a mosque.
Getting around Al Nuzhah
An Nuzhah is around 20 minutes’ drive from the centre of Jeddah and 10 minutes from the terminal buildings of King Abdulaziz International Airport. Buses travel to the district although taxis and rental vehicles are the most convenient way of getting around.
