Located partway between central Jeddah and King Abdulaziz International Airport, Al Aziziyah is a residential suburb in Saudi Arabia’s biggest port city. It’s home to large-scale shopping malls, public parks and a wide choice of eateries, as well as ornately decorated mosques that become a hive of activity during Friday prayers.
Things to do in Al Aziziyah
On the southeastern edge of Al Aziziyah is the Saudi Aramco Amusement Park, a family-friendly green space with meandering paths where locals come to enjoy a stroll. Kids will love the well-maintained play equipment and easy cycling trails, as well as the outdoor swimming pool. Nearby is the attractive Imam Abu Hanifa Mosque, which overlooks a peaceful park.
For a retail fix, head to Flamingo Park, a large shopping mall home to international retailers and a supermarket. You can browse the fashions at Abayati and Nayomi or admire the timepieces at the Al Humaidy & BinHatem Watches Co. There are plenty of casual eateries where you can grab a bite to eat, including Al Baik Xpress, Dar Al Hojorat and the Puzzle Cafe.
Al Aziziyah makes an ideal base for exploring the sights of Jeddah, which is fringed by the breezy seafront promenade of the Corniche. You can take a step back in time in the historic Al-Balad district, which dates from the 7th century and is clustered with traditional buildings constructed from coral. Don’t miss Al Tayebat International City, which showcases Jeddah’s cultural heritage.
