Cala Pi is a laid-back town perched on honey-coloured cliffs. Whitewashed villas covered with bright-pink bougainvillea flowers dot the clifftops and look striking against the turquoise waters of Cala Pi Bay. Relax on the postcard-perfect beach and dine at rustic restaurants.
Things to do in Cala Pi
A steep staircase leads down to Cala Pi Beach, where you’ll find a strip of golden sand framed by towering limestone cliffs. Pine trees and Mediterranean shrubs grow on the cliffsides and add a splash of green. Bask in the sunshine and swim in the cool, crystalline water. Snorkel at the foot of the rocky cliffs to see monkfish, rays and octopus.
Stroll along the beach to Torre de Cala Pi, an ancient stone watchtower built in the 17th century to defend the town from pirates. It’s perched on the cape and commands spectacular views over Cala Pi Bay.
Visit Capocorb Vell and explore the ruins of a prehistoric village. Rocky paths wind through the village and take you past dozens of ancient houses built in the Bronze Age. The village offers a fascinating glimpse of prehistoric Mallorca and is one of the most important archaeological sites in the Balearic Islands.
Cala Pi swaps trendy cafes and bistros for casual, family-run establishments. Dine at traditional “comedores” restaurants and try Balearic specialties like “caldereta de langosta” lobster stew and “sobresada” cured pork sausages. Dessert menus feature local favourites like “coca de albaricoques” apricot cake and buttery “ensaimadas” pastries.
