Stretching for six kilometres east of the city centre, Playa de Palma is a lively entertainment district on the south-west coast of Mallorca. During the day, it provides a relaxed setting for swimming and soaking up the Balearic sunshine, while after dark, it transforms into a pulsing nightlife destination.
Things to do in Playa de Palma
Stretch your legs on the palm-lined promenade that overlooks Playa de Palma or refresh with a dip in the Balearic Sea. There is a variety of water sports to keep all ages entertained, including jet skiing, banana boating and parasailing. Amidst the souvenir shops that line the sand, you’ll find plenty of gourmet restaurants and themed bars.
Animal lovers can get up close to more than 700 different marine species from across the globe at the Palma Aquarium. This family-friendly attraction boasts the deepest shark tank in Europe and it’s also home to one of the most mesmerising collections of live coral on the continent. Don’t miss the cylindrical jellyfish tank and the aquarium filled with octopi, seahorses and conger eels that are native to the Mediterranean Sea.
For a day away from the beach, head to the TirolinasGo Mallorca Forestal Park, an outdoor adventure hub with zip lines, rope bridges and challenging climbing walls. Playa de Palma is also home to Aqualand El Arenal, the biggest waterpark in Mallorca. Here you’ll find thrilling water slides, fun splash pools and a leisurely raft ride.
Getting around Playa de Palma
Playa de Palma is around 10 minutes' drive from the centre of Palma and five minutes from Palma de Mallorca Airport, which has flights to destinations across Europe and North Africa. Regular buses connect to Playa de Palma and travel along the length of the beach. The town centre is compact enough to explore on foot.
