With its bohemian charm, Pollenca is one of Spain's most captivating cities, having lured in the likes of Winston Churchill and Agatha Christie. Spend your time browsing art galleries, shopping at boutiques and enjoying tapas in the central square.
Things to do in Pollença
All roads lead to Placa Major, Pollenca's spacious central square. It's lined with open-air cafes and restaurants serving tapas and sangria. Il Giardino is a top pick, with a beautiful terrace and an Italian-inspired menu. You can also stop by the restaurant's attached chocolatier for dessert.
The beautiful Esglesia de la Mare de Deu dels Angels has been watching over the square since 1229. It's fronted by a grand Baroque facade carved from golden sandstone. The interior has a barrel-vaulted ceiling, colourful frescoes and light-filled rose window.
Over the years Pollenca has emerged as a hotspot for artists, writers and creatives. As a result, the town is brimming with independent galleries. Don't miss Casa-Museu Dionis Bennassar, a beautifully curated museum showcasing watercolours, oil paintings and original sketches from local artist Dionis Bennassar.
Set high on a hillside, Esglesia del Calvari is a tiny chapel built in the 18th century. Access is via a steep staircase shaded by cypress trees. You can peer into the chapel and enjoy sweeping views over Pollenca's terracotta rooftops, tree-lined squares and soaring church spires.
