Overlooking Alcudia Bay, Can Picafort is a popular holiday resort on the north coast of Mallorca. It was originally established as a small fishing village before being “discovered” by international visitors who come to laze on its sun-drenched beaches and enjoy the family-friendly attractions.
Spend your days relaxing on the white sands of Playa de Can Picafort, which boasts crystal-clear waters ideal for swimming. For a quieter beach experience, walk north to the dune-backed Playa del Muro or head south to dog-friendly Na Patana. Nearby are the prehistoric ruins of the Necropolis de Son Real.
Can Picafort makes an excellent base for exploring Parc Natural de s’Albufera, which protects a large wetland visited by migratory birds travelling between Europe and Africa. Explore along the hiking and cycling trails while keeping your eyes peeled for ospreys, kingfishers and Eleanora’s falcons.
Getting there
Can Picafort is around 15 minutes’ drive from the centre of Alcudia and an hour from Palma. Palma de Mallorca Airport is just under an hour away and has seasonal flights to destinations across Europe and North Africa. Regular buses connect to Can Picafort, which is small enough to explore on foot.
