The convention centre is made of up three main entertainment components including exhibition halls, a Great Hall, and Boulevard Auditorium. Brisbane Convention Centre serves a variety of occasions including sports events, graduation ceremonies, art shows, and charity events. The Brisbane International Boat Show, the Annual Stefan Hair Fashion Spectacular and the International Water Congress are three noteworthy exhibitions.
Public transportation in Brisbane is efficient, and the convention centre can be accessed via public bus services routing to the closest stop, The Cultural Centre Station. Visitors can ride a City Catto the South Bank River Terminal or a take a train to the nearby South Brisbane railway station, and in addition, taxis are in abundance. From the airport, an AirTrain operates to the South Brisbane Station.
The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre is the multi-million dollar replacement for the World Expo Centre, officially opened to the public in 1995. The centre hosted the Brisbane Bullets basketball team from 1998-2008 and currently serves as the home of the local Queensland Firebirds.
