About Milton

Named after a farm that once occupied the area, Milton is an inner city suburb on the banks of the Brisbane River. It encompasses two of the Queensland capital’s most recognisable landmarks - the home of the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium and the historic, red-brick brewery where XXXX is crafted.

Things to do in Milton

Stroll through Milton to admire its heritage-listed buildings, including the late 19th-century row of brick houses known as Cook Terrace. Built in 1852 for local chemist Ambrose Eldridge is Milton House, which was designed in a Colonial Georgian style. Also of note is the Old Bishopsbourne Chapel by the Australian architect Robin Dods.

Coincide your visit to Milton with a rugby league match at Suncorp Stadium, which has the capacity to seat 52,500 people during Brisbane Broncos games. Join a guided tour to learn about the stadium’s early days on the site of a cemetery and its evolution into the world-class facility it is today. Outside the stadium are bronze statues of rugby league greats, including Wally Lewis, Darren Lockyer and Mal Meninga.

Milton is also home to Castlemaine Perkins, a historic brewery where XXXX beer is made. It was originally established in 1878 by the Fitzgerald brothers and the brick building has since become a Brisbane icon. Join a guided tour to get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into brewing beer on a commercial scale or enjoy a cold drink in the atmospheric alehouse.
