Things to do in Tugun
Soft sand, rolling waves and minimal crowds make Tugun Beach one of the best-kept secrets on the Gold Coast. Lay down your towel on the sand and look north for fantastic views of the Surfers Paradise skyline. Nearby Coolangatta Beach is protected by a headland and is great for families. Surfers paddle out to Greenmount Point to ride the perfect right-hander. The local surf school is a great place to test your skills on a board.
Australians are passionate about coffee and Tugun is no exception. The town has a lively café culture, with local establishments serving everything from smoothies and acai bowls to smoked salmon bagels and breakfast burgers. For a casual evening meal, pick up a serving of fish and chips and visit Wyberba Street Reserve for dinner with a view.
Just north of Tugun, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary gets you up close with koalas, kangaroos, parrots and other Australian icons. Get face-to-face with enormous saltwater crocodiles and watch dingoes go for a daily walk through the park. Park hoppers enjoy easy access to Dreamworld, Warner Bros. Movie World and Sea World.
Getting around Tugun
Tugun is pedestrian-friendly and easy to get around on foot. The main café strip is a short stroll from the beach. Parking is available on the street and Surfers Paradise is a 30-minute drive north. Gold Coast Airport is a five-minute drive away and Brisbane Airport is 1.5 hours north.
