Backed by the dramatic dome of Mount Coolum, the laid-back seaside town of Coolum lies on the idyllic Sunshine Coast. It’s renowned for having one of the best surf breaks in Queensland, as well as a great selection of world-class golf courses.
Things to do in Coolum Beach
The commercial strip of David Low Way hugs the coast of Coolum and is lined with restaurants where you can enjoy the waterfront views. Peruse the shops along the esplanade or lounge on the sands, which are patrolled by Australia’s lifeguards donning the iconic red and yellow uniforms.
Follow the short walking trail that winds through Mount Coolum National Park to the top of its volcanic dome. From here there are magnificent views across Coolum and the Coral Sea, all the way to Noosa in the distance.
Don’t miss a visit to the laid-back village of Peregian Beach, just a short hop north from Coolum. Grab brunch at one of the charming cafes that line the leafy square, go shopping in the eclectic boutiques or just relax on the idyllic stretch of white sand.
Make the short drive north from Coolum Beach to the charismatic settlement of Noosa, home to trendy Hastings Street. Spot koalas while walking in Noosa National Park and dine at one of the local seafood restaurants in Noosaville.
