Time your visit with Warwick’s annual rodeo, which takes place in October and sees some of Australia’s top riders take on the toughest bulls. If you don’t make it to the rodeo, you can also visit the Australian Rodeo Heritage Centre, which showcases Warwick’s rich rodeo history through photographs, artefacts and live demonstrations.
Are you looking for a day out on the water? Drive about 25 minutes out to Leslie Dam, where you can cast a line out for golden perch, Murray cod, eel-tailed catfish and spangled perch. Boating is another popular activity, with many people jumping behind the boats for an afternoon of waterskiing or wakeboarding.
If you’re interested in Warwick’s historic buildings, grab a “Heritage and Historic Building Trails” map from the Warwick Visitor Information Centre. The map highlights the area’s prominent landmarks, including the Warwick Railway Station, Pringle Cottage and the Warwick War Memorial. Getting around Warwick
Warwick is between two and 2.5 hours’ drive from Brisbane or the Gold Coast. The town is serviced by public buses and taxis, but you’ll need a private car to explore further afield.
