Zhongli City features bustling markets and a vibrant street food scene, along with colourful museums and unique local delicacies. Positioned 50 minutes from Taipei, Zhongli City is also a great base for exploring the upbeat Taiwanese capital.
Things to do in Zhongli District
There's no better place to sample local Taiwanese specialties than the Zhongli Xinming Night Market. Save your appetite for beef noodles, oyster omelette, bubble tea, pan-fried buns and catfish soup. You can also pick up trinkets, electronics and handicrafts from local vendors.
Zhongli City is anchored by Chung Yuan Christian University, one of Taiwan's busiest campuses. The district surrounding the university is called the CYCU Neighbourhood and is filled with cafes, bars and street-food vendors.
The HeySong Beverage Museum is one of Taiwan's quirkiest attractions. It's owned by the HeySong Corporation, one of the country's most popular soft drink manufacturers. Inside you can check out vintage cans, colourful signage and detailed exhibitions on the production process.
Venture 30 minutes outside the city limits to find Bade Pond Ecological Park. The urban oasis is filled with shimmering ponds and scenic walking trails. There are also plenty of birdwatching decks and peaceful forest pavilions.
Getting around Zhongli District
Zhongli City is easy to get around on foot, with local buses and taxis also available. The city also features an eco-friendly bike share system. Flights arrive at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, located a 20-minute drive from Zhongli City.
