Designed in the late 19th century by the renowned theatre architect William George Robert Sprague, Wyndham’s Theatre is one of two West End theatres established by Charles Wyndham. It opened in 1899 with a production of T.W. Robertson’s “David Garrick” and was Grade II listed by English Heritage in 1960.
Admire the ornately carved exterior of Wyndham’s Theatre before stepping inside to explore its four-floor interior, which is decorated in an opulent Louis XVI style. In addition to the beautifully restored ceiling and a proscenium arch stage with gilded bordering, it features several tiered seating areas that include the Royal Circle, Grand Circle and Balcony.
Coincide your visit with a theatrical play to experience it in all its glory, with names such as Kenneth Branagh and Judi Dench having recently graced its stage. There are several eateries in the immediate vicinity where you can dine before or after your show, including The Bear and Staff and the Koha Restaurant & Bar.
