The main convention space and event venue for the city, the San Diego Convention Center has a prime spot in the Marina district near the San Diego Bay. It offers 57,200 square metres of exhibit space and a capacity for 125,000 people.
A famous component of the convention centre is the Sails Pavilion, recognisable by its Teflon-coated fibreglass sail design depicting the maritime history of San Diego. The venue is also illuminated by multicoloured LED lights visible throughout downtown. Special events include cheerleading competitions, community yoga sessions, bridal shows and talent competitions.
Conventions and trade at the San Diego Convention Center have access to white-gloved doormen, first-class catered cuisine by Centerplate, and Audio-visual specialists using the latest technology and smart-city connections. An on-site business centre provides large-format colour printing, posters, banners, office supplies and even rental computers.
