Things to do in San Luis Obispo
Visit the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa to explore one of the most beautiful missions in the state. Stroll through the garden courtyard, admire the decorated Stations of the Cross on the interior walls and check out the Trompe l'oeil painting and pipe organ. When you’re finished, cross the creek and stop at Novo for delectable cuisine that highlights local flavours from the Central Coast.
For a day out in nature, hike up to Bishop’s Peak from Highland Drive. About six kilometres long, the trail is moderately strenuous and features expansive fields of gorgeous wildflowers. Rent a bike or go for a trail run, but be sure to follow the switchbacks to the summit to enjoy stunning views of the entire San Luis Obispo area sprawling out below.
Relax and unwind with a glass of vino at Edna Valley Vineyard. Sip on wines in the tasting room while enjoying panoramic views of the valley and mountains in the background or choose a seat in the outside area, then shop for a few bottles to take home with you.
Spend an afternoon at the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, which showcases the work of local and countrywide artists. Browse the rotating exhibitions and check out the permanent pieces, including works by Roberta Owens and Arne Nybak.
