Things to do in Quirindi
Take the kids to the Quirindi Village Miniature Railway, part of the Quirindi Rural Heritage Village. The miniature railway takes you on a scenic journey around the village, passing frogs, fish, a lion and native flora. Hang around the heritage village to uncover historic artefacts pertaining to the region, which are displayed in reconstructed homes and businesses.
For majestic countryside views, you can’t go past Who’d A Thought It Lookout, which features a children’s playground, picnic tables and 360-degree vistas of the Great Divide and Breeza Plains. Afterwards, chill out in the Quipolly Dam Recreation Area, where you can fish, enjoy a leisurely picnic or explore immersive walking trails.
Do you love country-style entertainment? Time your visit with the annual Quirindi Rodeo, where you can watch bronco and bull riding, as well as enjoy live music and food vendors. Sample local cuisine at the various restaurants on Station Street, from freshly-brewed coffee and sweet treats at Impact Cafe to hearty Aussie fare and beer at Terminus Hotel.
If you’ve got time, drive 50 minutes up to Tamworth, the home of Australia’s country music. Here you can visit the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame and snap a memorable photo at the Big Golden Guitar monument. Back in Quirindi, don’t miss the award-winning Australian Railway Monument and Rail Journeys Museum, home to an amphitheatre, commemorative sculptures and rail artefacts.
