Comprising around 400 spectacular limestone caves, the Jenolan Caves are hidden in the beautiful Blue Mountains region of New South Wales. The underground rivers and calcite crystal formations are brought to life by special lighting and can be accessed on guided tours and adventure caving expeditions.
Join one of the Jenolan Caves’ knowledgeable guides to explore the multi-level passageways, boardwalks and viewing points, with 11 of the caves accessible to the public. Marvel at the Temple of Baal Cave or the richly decorated chambers of the Orient Cave, then photograph the famous Broken Column within Lucas Cave.
Want a more adventurous experience? Opt for the Plughole tour for a taste of adventure caving or embark on the more challenging Aladdin and Mammoth Expeditions that are designed for experienced spelunkers. The Jenolan Caves also run a Bones & Stones children’s tour for young visitors and the after-dark Legends, Mysteries & Ghosts tour where you’ll roam the underworld by torchlight.
Getting there
The Jenolan Caves are an hour’s drive from Lithgow and slightly further from Katoomba. Oberon is 30 minutes away, while Sydney Airport is around three hours’ drive from the caves.
