One of Australia’s biggest and most-revered ice arenas, O’Brien Group Arena the place to be for fast-paced ice hockey, curling, speed skating and other ice-based sports. Visitors can hire ice skates, helmets and other protective gear for casual ice skating, family-friendly games or lessons from the arena’s on-site Skate School.
Public skating sessions are run most days, along with freestyle, stick and puck, figure skating, curling and other sports events. Home of the Melbourne Mustangs and Melbourne Ice, O’Brien Group Arena is also a fantastic place to witness the competitive atmosphere of the Australian Ice Hockey League and Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League, with games held on most weekends during the season.

Getting there
O’Brien Group Arena is about 3.5 kilometres from Melbourne’s city centre in the Docklands neighbourhood. Fortunately, you can catch multiple trams to the Waterfront City stop, about 350 metres from the arena, or the train to North Melbourne Station. Expect about a 25-minute transit on public transportation or 15 minutes if driving.
