Mount Beauty is anchored by a lively town centre, with most of the action centred along Hollonds Street and Kiewa Crescent. Both are lined with a collection of cafes, craft stores and other specialty retailers. You can also stroll down to the lake and enjoy a scenic picnic on the grassy foreshore.
Only 30 kilometres from Falls Creek Alpine Resort, Mount Beauty is a popular base for skiers and snowboarders. With 14 lifts, over 90 runs and a fantastic apres-ski scene, Falls Creek one of Australia's most coveted winter resorts.
Set in the stunning Alpine National Park, Mount Beauty is brimming with outdoor adventures, from horseback riding in the High Country to fishing on Kiewa River. You can also get thrills at Big Hill Mountain Bike Park, one of Australia's top mountain biking destinations.
Thanks to its fertile soil and cool climate, Kiewa Valley is a hotspot for wineries. It's dotted with boutique vineyards, including local favourite Ceccanti. Annapurna Wines is another highlight, crafting some of Victoria's best pinot noir. After visiting the tasting room, enjoy lunch at the on-site restaurant.
Getting around Mount Beauty
Mount Beauty is easy to navigate on foot, but you’ll need a car to explore the rest of the Victorian High Country. From Melbourne, the drive to Mount Beauty takes around four hours. If you're heading to Falls Creek, allow 45 minutes.
