Forming part of Les Trois Vallees, Val Thorens is the highest ski resort village in Europe. It lies at an altitude of 2,300 metres in the French Alps, with its skiable terrain centred around the soaring peaks of Point du Bouchet and Cime de Caron.
Take advantage of Val Thorens’ high-tech and wind-tolerant lifts to access its 70 marked runs, which cater to skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. There’s plenty of spectacular backcountry terrain to explore, as well as a flying fox and a long toboggan slope.
In addition to its snow pursuits, Val Thorens is renowned for its lively apres ski scene, with restaurants and bars clustered in the village centre. You can dine on French cuisine at Alpen Art, feast on pizza at La Maison or party the night away at Jackie’s. Val Thorens also boasts a ten-pin bowling alley that kids will love.
Getting there
The Val Thorens Ski Area is just under two hours’ drive from Grenoble and 2.5 from Geneva Airport, which has flights to destinations across the globe. Transfers are available from the airport to Val Thorens while the town centre is small enough to explore on foot.
