Todtmoos is a picturesque village set in the heart of the Black Forest. Gingerbread-style houses with flower-filled window boxes give the village chocolate box charm. Cafes spill onto the streets and will tempt you with creamy hot chocolate and German baked goods, while outdoor terraces are perfect for sipping beer and enjoying the sunshine.
Several hiking trails start in the village and take you into the surrounding forests, valleys and mountains. The rocky trail to Todtmoos Waterfall takes you over several moss-covered wooden bridges. Pack your swimsuit if you want to cool off in the natural pools. Hike up Hochkopf for sweeping views over the village and Black Forest. At 1,263 metres above sea level, it’s one of the tallest peaks in Baden-Wurttemberg. Rent a mountain bike and hit mud-splattered trails if you’re looking for a faster pace.
Wallfahrtskirche dominates the townscape and features a beautiful Baroque façade. The interior is decorated with colourful murals depicting scenes from the Bible. Visit during mass to hear the magnificent organ being played.
