Things to do in Feldberg
At almost 1,500 metres above sea level, Feldberg Peak towers over the village. It’s one of the tallest mountains in Baden-Wurttemberg and dusted in snow for most of the year. Ride the Feldbergbahn cable car to the summit for panoramic views over the Black Forest and surrounding peaks and valleys.
Explore 65 kilometres of groomed slopes at Ski Resort Feldberg. It’s one of the largest ski resorts in Germany and offers runs for all ages and skill levels. Take it easy on family-friendly slopes or get your pulse racing on high-altitude runs. Stop at a mountain hut for hot chocolate or a mug of “glühwein” mulled wine. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, you can enjoy winter sports like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and sledding.
Spring snowmelt transforms Feldberg into a sun-drenched outdoor playground. Lace up your hiking boots and explore scenic alpine trails. They’re well-marked and take you through evergreen forests and past shimmering glacial lakes. Rent a bike to explore the scenic cycling routes that wind through Feldberg and the Black Forest. You’ll also find exhilarating mountain bike trails around Feldberg.
After a day of outdoor adventures, refuel with hearty local cuisine back in the village. Try traditional Black Forest dishes like “schwarzwälder forelle” pan-fried local trout served with potatoes, “wildgerichte” venison with dumplings and “schwarzwalder schinken” smoked ham. Indulge in a slice of “kirschtorte” Black Forest cake with layers of chocolate, cream and cherry jam for dessert.
