Boasting crystal clear turquoise waters, Ornos Beach is an idyllic stretch of golden sand on the island of Mykonos. Filled with beachgoers in the summertime, the area is lined with waterfront hotels, bars and restaurants. One of the best beaches within walking distance of Mykonos Town, the area is flanked with gorgeous views of the houses perched on the rugged cliffs.
With an upmarket vibe, Ornos Beach is a large stretch of sand, with the southern part of the beach suitable for families with small children, as the sea is shallow and it is easy to get into the water. Popular with windsurfers, the northern part of the island is often full of beachgoers, particularly over the weekend, while swimming is ideal due to the area’s absence of wind. Perfect for a day of soaking in the sunshine, this organised beach offers an array of sunbeds and umbrellas for visitors to use.
Only two kilometres from Mykonos Town, Ornos Beach is easily accessible from the city centre and many major access points on the island. With regular bus connections to Mykonos Town and taxis readily available, it is easy to explore Ornos Beach on a day trip. It is also one of the starting points for the boats that visit the island’s other chain of beaches in the southern part of Mykonos.
Once a charming fishing port, the area is now bustling tourist destination. A supermarket, bakery, pharmacy and variety of quaint shops are peppered throughout the area, in addition to an array of diving schools and places to rent equipment for water skiing and windsurfing.
