Centred around a pebbly beach, Kiotari is an upscale resort on the south coast of Rhodes. It encompasses two small headlands, several water sports centres and a handful of fine-dining restaurants where you can feast on locally caught seafood.
Spend your days relaxing on the pebbly shores of Kiotari Beach, which is lapped by the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. It’s a popular destination for water sports and the snorkelling is rewarding around its rocky headlands. Backing the beach are high-end restaurants and laid-back tavernas.
Kiotari makes an excellent base for visiting the Holy Monastery of Panagia Ipseni, which is nestled in a forested setting near the village of Lardos. It was constructed in 1855 on the ruins of an earlier basilica and is occupied by a small group of nuns. In addition to exploring its chapel and seeing its revered icon, stroll through the peaceful garden planted with orange trees.
Getting there
Kiotari is around a one-hour drive from Rhodes Town and Rhodes International Airport Diagoras, which has seasonal flights to destinations across Europe. Buses connect to Kiotari, although renting a car is the most convenient way of getting around the area.
