A renowned movie palace and Hollywood icon, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre is a centrepiece on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It’s where to find the embedded brass footprints, handprints and signatures of the film industry’s biggest stars since the 1920s.
Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks were the first footprints memorialised in the forecourt of the theatre, followed by a virtual who’s who of Hollywood, from Clark Gable to John Wayne and Marilyn Monroe. Gold stars bearing the names of current celebrities spill down the sidewalk, which teems with impersonators and costumed characters, such as Spiderman, SpongeBob SquarePants and Wonder Woman. Variations include embedded objects like the wands from the movie “Harry Potter” and a dreadlock from Whoopi Goldberg.
The theatre hosts dozens of events every year, including film festivals and movie premiers. It features the largest IMAX auditorium with laser projection. You can take a VIP tour to learn all about the venue’s history, then enjoy the restaurants, coffee shops and bars nearby.
