Things to do in Young
Explore the area by joining a Hilltops Wine Tour. Journey through Young and the surrounding regions, stopping at wineries, orchards and other attractions along the way. Seasonal tours are available for cherry picking and canola landscapes.
For a day out in nature, head to the Lambing Flat Chinese Tribute Garden, located four kilometres from the centre of town. Stroll through the gardens, pack for a picnic or a barbecue and admire the Pool of Tranquility from the viewing platform.
Spend a few hours browsing the Lambing Flat Folk Museum. You can browse five main exhibition areas that display artefacts and memorabilia related to the town’s history, highlighted by the historically significant “Roll-Up Banner” carried by miners during the anti-Chinese riots.
If you have a sweet tooth, don’t leave Young without stopping by Poppa’s Judge and Jam Factory. The shop offers cherry goods of all kinds and has an excellent fudge selection in addition to a huge emporium filled with unique home goods and gifts.
Getting around Young
Young is located along the Olympic highway, about two hours’ drive from Canberra. The easiest way of getting around is by car, taxi or joining a winery tour.
