Things to do in Wugu District
Escape the traffic and enjoy a dose of fresh air in Shuidui Park. The tiered park cascades down a mountainside and commands stellar views over New Taipei City. The higher you get, the better the views. Walking and cycling trails wind through the 10-hectare park and take you past picturesque pavilions and trees draped in hanging vines. Enjoy a picnic on the grass and burn calories on the outdoor exercise equipment.
Pastel-pink cherry blossom trees line the walkways of Fengshu Riverside Park. Visit in October and November to see the park explode in a sea of bright purple garlic vines. Shuhong Luti Park is set on the river and is a lovely place to enjoy an evening stroll and admire the twinkling skyline.
Skip the fast food restaurants and try delicious Taiwanese food. Local restaurants serve specialty dishes like “ah-gei” fried tofu pockets stuffed with green bean noodles and slow-cooked beef soup topped with green onions. Finish with a bowl of “baobing” shaved ice flavoured with fruit syrup and drizzled with condensed milk.
Visit Zhulin Mountain Buddhist Temple, an ancient place of worship set in lush tropical gardens. Admire the ornate façade, stroll around the emerald-green lake and count hundreds of dragon and lion statues in the temple grounds.
