About Tewantin

Originally established as a timber town, Tewantin is named after an Aboriginal word meaning “place of dead logs”. By the mid-19th century, it was the main river port for the Noosa area and thrived on the back of the gold and fishing industries. Today, it’s a laid-back destination perfect for exploring the beaches and national parks of the Sunshine Coast.
