Constructed in the 1970s, Tenerife South Airport is the largest of two international airports on the island of Tenerife and has flights to destinations across Europe. It comprises a single terminal building set across three storeys, with around 12 million passengers passing through its doors each year.
You can check in for your flight on the main level of South Tenerife Airport, which also features the departure gates, arrivals hall and baggage reclaim. The upper level houses office spaces while the basement level is occupied by luggage belts.
Duty-free stores, currency exchange services and a children’s play area can be found throughout the terminal building, together with several dining and bar establishments. You can feast on American-style fare at O’Learys or grab a pizza at Upper Crust before sipping a refreshing drink at the Carlsberg Bar.
Getting there
Tenerife South Airport is a 10-minute drive from the Costa Adeje and 40 minutes from Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Buses connect from the airport to destinations around the island, as well as to Tenerife North Airport. Rental cars and taxis are both readily available at the airport.
