All the best landscapes of the Canaria Islands converge in Los Cristianos, from sun-bleached beaches to looming volcanoes and world-class water parks. The former fishing village is the liveliest resort town in Tenerife, attracting families with its waterfront markets, whale-watching cruises and distinct Canarian charisma.
Things to do in Los Cristianos
Launch yourself down a 28-metre-high vertical waterslide or surf massive artificial waves at Siam Park, Tenerife’s premier Thai-themed water park. Those who prefer to take it slow can relax in the Mai Thai River surrounded by lush tropical plants or laze on the pristine man-made Siam Beach.
Take a dip at Playa de las Vistas, the best of all Los Cristianos’ beaches. The crescent-shaped bay has jet skis, surfboards and banana boats, plus a rocky outcrop that shoots water up into the air. Find a perfect patch of sand or shady sun lounge to sink into or paddle across to neighbouring Playa de las Americas for a cocktail at the beachfront bars.
If it’s wildlife you’re after, sail out to sea to spot whales and dolphins swimming in their natural habitats. You can spend the day monkeying around at Tenerife Monkey Park, an international breeding centre for endangered species, where you can feed monkeys, lemurs, turtles and toucans straight from your palm.
Craving a physical pursuit? Hike to the summit of Guaza Mountain, a challenging nine-kilometre trail that zig-zags its way up the cactus-covered mountain and rewards trekkers with panoramic views of Los Cristiano's bay.
