Famed for its surf breaks, Lennox Head is a seaside village between Ballina and Byron Bay in the alluring Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. It’s home to laid-back cafes, waterside pubs and a range of adventure sports operators offering everything from hang-gliding flights to whale watching cruises.
Beginner surfers can learn the ropes with one of Lennox Head’s surf schools while experts can take on the legendary break at Boulder Beach. If you prefer to stay dry, you can watch all the action from the Pat Morton Lookout, which is a perfect spot for dolphin and whale watching during the migration season.
Stretching north from Lennox Head to Broken Head is Seven Mile Beach, a long sweep of sand that’s ideal for swimming and sunbathing. Nestled behind the beach is Lake Ainsworth, where you can kayak and stand up paddleboard before enjoying the picnic and barbecue facilities.
