Forming part of the enchanting Prättigau region, Klosters is a rural village in Switzerland’s east. It was first mentioned in the 13th century and is now the largest village in the valley. In addition to its ski areas and family-friendly attractions, Klosters is notable for its close proximity to the major winter sports hub at Davos.
Things to do in Klosters-Serneus
Occupying a traditional wood and stone farmhouse dating back to the 16th century is the Nutli-Hüschi Folk Museum. It illustrates how people lived and worked in Prättigau in times gone by, with antique tools, homewares and handicrafts on show. Be sure to admire the embroidered linen on display before purchasing a loaf of wood-fired bread cooked in the museum oven.
In the winter months, you can ride the Gotschnabahn cable car that ascends to the Davos ski arena or take advantage of the sunny slopes of the Madrisa winter sports area. In addition, there are several cross-country skiing trails to explore, as well as winter walks, toboggan runs and snowshoeing routes.
Once the snow melts, you can explore the Prättigau along the extensive network of hiking trails, which range from leisurely strolls to demanding mountain treks. Many of the routes are accessible to mountain bikers, with nearby Davos considered one of Switzerland’s top mountain biking destinations. Families can visit the alpine adventure park of Madrisa Land, which is home to attractions inspired by regional legends and fairytales.
