Occupying a rectangular piece of land in Riyadh’s east, Ishbiliyah is a largely residential neighbourhood in the Saudi Arabian capital. It’s home to palm-studded parks, retail stores and globally-inspired restaurants and is on the doorstep of an international shopping mall and a cultural heritage park.
Things to do in Ishbiliyah
In the heart of Ishbiliyah is a palm-lined park known as Ishbiliyah 2nd Park, where you’ll find children’s play equipment, walking trails and grassy lawns that are ideal for a picnic. Its sister green space, Isbiliyah Park, in the neighbourhood’s east is dedicated to recreational pursuits, with soccer fields, a basketball court and a paved jogging route among its facilities.
On the northeastern edge of Ishbiliyah is the Atyaf Mall, which features a LULU hypermarket, international fashion chains and local beauty stores. You can catch the latest films at the VOX Cinemas or challenge your family and friends at Yalla! Bowling before grabbing a bite to eat at FireGrill, Subway or Potato Corner. Sweet treats are on offer at Chocolate Sarayi and Mag Mastri.
Ishbiliyah makes an excellent base for visiting the Zaman Village, a cultural attraction that brings Saudi Arabia’s heritage and traditions to life. In addition to trying on traditional costumes, seeing artisans at work and sampling authentic local dishes, it hosts live shows featuring Saudi song and dance. Kids will love the Fun Lane with its huge playground while souvenirs such as ceramics, jewellery and ouds are for sale at the stores of Al-Tayibin.
