Things to do in Al Khaleej
King Fahd Stadium, also known as “The Pearl”, is a short walk from Al Khaleej District. The multi-purpose sporting venue is mostly used for football matches. With a capacity for more than 67,000 fans, the atmosphere is incredible on game days. Cheer on a local team or score tickets to an international match featuring clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid.
From Al Khaleej District, it’s easy to visit the National Museum, one of the best in the Middle East. Within the ultra-modern building you can discover exhibits on Saudi Arabian art, culture and history. Admire ancient rock carvings and marvel at a life-size reconstruction of a Nabataean tomb.
Riyadh Zoo is one of the largest in Saudi Arabia and is home to lions, leopards and other exotic animals. Don’t miss the houbara bustard enclosure, where you can view one of the rarest birds in the country. Mini trains chug around the grounds and are a fun way to explore the zoo.
Riyadh is home to excellent restaurants and some of the best can be found in the Al Khaleej District. Try traditional Saudi Arabian dishes like “kabsa” roast chicken and aromatic rice topped with a dollop of yogurt. For dessert, enjoy “logaimat” fried dumplings drizzled with sweet syrup.
Getting around Al Khaleej
Al Khaleej District is compact and easy to get around on foot, while taxis are a fast and comfortable way to visit sights and attractions in Riyadh. King Khalid International Airport is a 30-minute drive away.
