Hyams Beach is an idyllic village fringed by sugar-white sand and turquoise water. Set on Jervis Bay Marine Park, it’s a popular destination for sunseekers and nature lovers. Hike on scenic coastal walks, swim in crystal-clear water and have incredible encounters with Australian wildlife.
The calm waters of Jervis Bay Marine Park are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and paddling. Throw out your towel and relax on the sand or rent snorkelling gear and swim with friendly gropers, sharks and rays. The marine park is an important habitat for playful bottlenose dolphins, as well as New Zealand fur seals and little penguins. During the annual whale migration, from May to November, you can spot humpbacks breaching offshore.
The White Sands Walk from Hyams Beach to the neighbouring town of Vincentia offers some of the most beautiful coastal scenery in Australia. You’ll be dazzled by stretches of shimmering white sand, so soft that it squeaks under your feet. Follow the Hyams Beach Trail to spot brightly-coloured rosellas and other birdlife. Ranger-led tours of Booderee National Park introduce you to the region’s rich Aboriginal heritage.
