Things to do in Ermington
The Ermington Bay Nature Trail winds along the banks of the Parramatta River and showcases the natural beauty of the iconic New South Wales waterway. Along the way, you’ll pass by towering red gums and thought-provoking public art installations.
On the northern banks of the river is George Kendall Riverside Park, an urban oasis shaded by leafy peppermint trees. Practice your forehand on the public tennis court and enjoy a picnic on the grass. Watch for herons and kookaburras perched in the tree branches.
Held on alternating Saturdays, Market by the River sees Halvorsen Park come alive with stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables, artisan cheeses and fresh-baked bread. Live music adds to the upbeat atmosphere.
On the south bank of the river is Sydney Olympic Park, the sprawling complex built for the 2000 games. Tour the iconic stadium, which has welcomed legends such as U2 and The Rolling Stones. The aquatic centre features an Olympic-sized swimming pool, as well as a diving pool and kids play area.
