About Bremanger

Bremanger is a picturesque region set between rugged mountain peaks and the North Sea. Nicknamed Little Lofoten, it will charm you with its white-sand beaches, soaring sea cliffs, snow-capped mountains and shimmering glaciers. Bustling fishing harbours dotted with colourful cabins give Bremanger a postcard-perfect feel.

Things to do in Bremanger

From hikes on Ålfotbreen glacier to kayaking trips around offshore islands and skerries, Bremanger offers an array of outdoor adventures. Hornelen is one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe and commands sweeping views over the Frøysjøen Strait. The four-hour hike to the summit is challenging but exhilarating.

Boat tours are the only way to reach Vetvika, a stunning bay fringed by sugar-white sand, crystalline water and soaring cliffs. Alternatively, you can hike three hours through the Steinfjellet mountains to reach the remote beach. Grotlesanden is another beautiful white-sand beach and is easy to access by car.

The lively town of Svelgen is a great base for exploring Bremanger. It’s perched on the tip of Nordgulen Fjord and offers an excellent selection of cafes, restaurants and cosy B&Bs. After a day of sightseeing, head back to Svelgen for a hearty meal of “farikal” lamb stew and “sursild” pickled herring. For a quieter scene, escape to smaller villages like Kalvåg, Bremanger or Davik.
