Set at the tip of spectacular Aurlandsfjord, Flam is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and emerald-green pastures. The village is a terminus for the Flåmsbana, one of the most spectacular railroads in the world. As the train climbs up to the Hardangervidda Plateau, you’ll pass by lush valleys, rugged peaks and tumbling waterfalls.
Set high above Aurlandsfjord, the Stegastein Viewpoint commands sweeping vistas over the fjord. The platform extends 30 metres from the side of the mountain and unlocks a bird’s eye perspective of the cobalt-blue inlet.
Flam Marina is dotted with atmospheric cafes and restaurants where you can relax, refuel and enjoy the spectacular views. Save your appetite for Nordic specialties such as cured ham, baked salmon, creamy goat cheese and berry tarts. Wash down your meal with a glass of local craft beer.
