Established in 1874 as the Yorkshire College of Science, the University of Leeds is one of the top-ranking tertiary institutions in the United Kingdom. It educates around 33,000 students in disciplines ranging from fine art to civil engineering, philosophy and economics and is home to one of the largest medical schools in Europe.
