About Tambourine

Nestled in the Gold Coast hinterland, Tamborine is a picturesque mountain town that forms part of Queensland’s Scenic Rim Region. Large sections of the surrounding plateau are protected within Tamborine National Park, which is renowned for its photogenic waterfalls, dramatic gorges and birdlife.

Things to do in Tambourine

One of Tamborine’s most popular attractions is the Glow Worm Cave, which forms part of the Cedar Creek Estate Vineyard and Winery. This man-made cave has been created with natural-looking stalactites and stalagmites and native glow worms were introduced following its completion in 2004. Join a guided tour to learn about the unique lifestyle of the glow worms while seeing them illuminated beneath a red torchlight.

Scattered across 14 different reserves is Tamborine National Park, which can be explored along the region’s scenic drives and hiking trails. Marvel at the enormous strangler figs on the Witches Falls Circuit, get up close to piccabeen palms in the Palm Grove or spot lyrebirds, brush-turkeys and elusive platypuses in the Joalah section.

For an elevated view of the rainforest, head to the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk, which features a network of steel bridges positioned 30 metres above the forest floor. This private reserve lies alongside the crystal clear rock pools of Cedar Creek and boasts a 40-metre-long cantilever bridge that protrudes above. Don’t miss a visit to the on-site Eco Gallery where you can learn about the area’s native flora and fauna.
