Located in the city of Sunrise, just to the west of Fort Lauderdale, Sawgrass Mills is one of the largest shopping malls in Florida. Its sprawls across a single storey and is home to more than 300 retail stores, in addition to fast food chains, restaurants and cinemas.
Sawgrass Mills is divided into three parts, including the main area with four “Avenues”, with an extensive “Fashion Avenue”, and an “Oasis” outdoor area where Regal Cinemas and Nordstrom Rack are located. The “Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass” is an upscale lifestyle area and home to Neiman Marcus. Bloomingdale’s, Super Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, T.J. Maxx and Marshalls are among Sawgrass Mills other anchor brands, while exclusive stores not found elsewhere in South Florida including Burberry, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Prada, Versace and Salvatore Ferragamo. Popular eateries at the mall include The Cheesecake Factory, Grand Lux Cafe and the jungle-themed Rainforest Cafe, while a children’s play area known as Cha Cha’s Playground has been designed to let young ones let off some steam.
The mall is surrounded by the Sawgrass Mills Circuit and easily accessed by public bus services from across the Fort Lauderdale area. There is also plenty of parking available, from where it’s just a short walk to one of the mall’s many entrances.
Sawgrass Mills was originally developed in 1990 by Mills Corporations, which now forms part of the Simon Property Group. It has been expanded numerous times since then, most recently in 2014 when it underwent renovations and reconstructions as part of a major modernisation.
