Things to do in Narrandera
For a unique history lesson, visit the Tiger Moth Memorial, a former aviation school that’s now a small museum. The Tiger Moth airplane exhibition is the museum’s highlight, as many of the pilots during World War II began their training in this type of aircraft. Spend an afternoon browsing the informative displays and collection of model planes.
Meander through the Memorial Gardens to check out the Royal Hankinson Memorial Fountain. Here you can embrace the quiet landscapes while remembering the Australian lives lost in the Great War. Take note of the fountain’s beautiful craftsmanship by Royal Doulton; one of only two in the world.
If you want to cool off, head over to the Lake Talbot Swimming Park. This outdoor pool complex features a variety of slides and swimming lanes, plenty of shade and barbecue pits for cooking lunch.
Animal lovers will enjoy visiting the Narrandera Nature Reserve, home to over 200 koalas. Part of the Murrumbidgee Valley National Park, the reserve provides intimate encounters with these animals in the wild. You can also go for a walk or cycle along the lanes through the park.
