Things to do in Nangang District
Nangang Shan towers more than 300 metres high and commands sweeping views over the city. The hike to the summit can be challenging and features rocky terrain and slippery tree roots. On a clear day, the views stretch all the way across the city to the distant mountains. Neighbouring Muzhi Shan trail is another popular hike, with plenty of shade and a series of steep stone staircases to climb.
Nangang Park is a sanctuary of tree-lined paths and emerald-green ponds. You’ll enter the park through a beautiful Chinese-style archway engraved with gold lettering. Enjoy a picnic on the grass and let the kids burn off energy in the playground.
Admire classic and modern masterpieces at the Lingnan Fine Arts Museum on the Academia Sinica campus. The museum is dedicated to the unique Lingnan painting style, which blends traditional Chinese art techniques with Japanese and American styles.
The crown-shaped Taipei Pop Music Centre hosts international acts in an enormous 3,000-seat auditorium. After dark, the centre is lit up with rainbow-coloured lights. In addition to hosting concerts, the centre features exhibits on famous pop stars and the history of contemporary music in Taiwan.
Getting around Nangang District
Nangang District is serviced by several Taipei Metro stations, including Nangang Station and Nangang Software Park Station. Taxis are a fast and affordable way to get around. The district is a 25-minute drive from Taipei and 40 minutes from New Taipei City. Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is a one-hour drive away.
