Mudjimba is a laid-back coastal town fringed by gold sand and aquamarine water. It’s an aquatic playground, with the Pacific Ocean to the east and the Maroochy River to the south. Locals call Mudjimba a “hidden gem” and compare it to iconic Sunshine Coast towns like Noosa, without the crowds.
Things to do in Mudjimba
Mudjimba Beach is one of the best-kept secrets on the Sunshine Coast. The golden sand seems to stretch on forever in both directions. Lifeguards patrol the beach and make Mudjimba a great choice for families. Bring a boogie board and splash in the whitewater and paddle out to the consistent breaks just offshore.
The grassy area next to Mudjimba Surf Club is perfect for picnics. Bring sausages and fire up the barbecue or pick up fish and chips from one of the nearby eateries. Cafes serve locally roasted coffee and homemade baked goods. There’s also a fantastic playground for the kids. Prefer to catch your own dinner? Head to the Maroochy River and reel in flathead, whiting and other species.
Follow the 2.5-kilometre trail through the Maroochy River Conservation Park. It takes you through lush wetlands, mangroves and stands of eucalyptus and melaleuca trees. The park is a sanctuary for local birdlife, as well as butterflies, reptiles and other animals.
Drive to Sunshine Coast hotspots like Noosa and Maroochydore in under one hour. Bask on postcard-perfect Sunshine Beach, dine at breezy cafes and browse boutiques selling coastal-inspired jewellery, homewares and apparel. Explore coastal trails on Noosa Headland and look for koalas perched in the trees.
