Things to do in Kangaroo Valley
Get your bearings with a stroll around the town centre, stopping to admire characterful Heritage-listed buildings like the Community Hall, Courthouse and Old Bakery. You'll eventually end up at the historic Hampden Bridge. Flanked by a grand sandstone entrance, it's Australia’s oldest remaining wooden suspension bridge.
Just next to the bridge is the beautifully curated Pioneer Village Museum, which offers a glimpse at life in colonial Australia. In addition to artefacts and exhibitions, the museum also features picnic tables, a barbecue area and a network of family-friendly bushwalking trails.
The surrounding Shoalhaven region boasts rolling pastures, lush rainforests and towering escarpments. Cambewarra Lookout is a fantastic place to get a feel for the landscape, offering sweeping views of the Shoalhaven River.
There are plenty of opportunities to discover the great outdoors, from bushwalking and camping to biking and canoeing. Golf lovers can also tee off at the Kangaroo Valley Golf & Country Resort, home to a picturesque par-72 championship course.
Getting around Kangaroo Valley
The Kangaroo Valley town centre is easily explored on foot, but it’s best to hire a car if you want to explore the greater Shoalhaven region. From Sydney or Canberra, the drive to Kangaroo Valley takes around two hours.
