Set on the sun-drenched Costa Dorada, Coma-Ruga is a picturesque seaside resort in the Spanish province of Tarragona. It was originally established in 1887 around the Sant Vicenç de Calders railway station before the discovery of its hot springs began attracting holidaymakers in the early 20th century.
Stretching the length of the town is Playa de Coma-Ruga, a wide expanse of sand overlooking the Balearic Sea. Offshore lies the Masia Blanca Marine Reserve, which protects a rocky reef with excellent snorkelling. Backing the beach are plenty of eateries where you can dine throughout the day, including Casa Pepe and El Pingüino.
Travelling with kids? They’ll love whizzing down the Calafell Slide, a 700-metre-long bobsled track on the slope of Escarnosa Mountain. Golfers can enjoy a round on the woodland course of La Graiera Golf Club, which offers magnificent views across the coastline.
